#Brandedversary for Branded by Abi Ketner and Missy Kalicicki

#BRANDEDVERSARY – Branded by Abi Ketner and Missy Kalicicki

Fifty years ago The Commander came into power and murdered all who opposed him. In his warped mind, the seven deadly sins were the downfall of society.

To punish the guilty, he created the Hole, a place where sinners are branded according to their sins. Sinners are forced to live a less than human existence in deplorable conditions, under the watchful eye of guards who are ready to kill anyone who steps out of line.

Now, LUST wraps around my neck like thick, blue fingers, threatening to choke the life out of me. I’ve been accused of a crime I didn’t commit, and the Hole is my new home.

Constant darkness.

Brutal and savage violence.

Excruciating pain.

Every day is a fight for survival.

But I won’t let them win. I will not die in the Hole.

I am more than my brand. I’m a fighter. My name is Lexi Hamilton, and this is my story.

My Review

Branded is an exhilarating and haunting story of a delicate hope, an unfaltering love, and a deep desire to really and truly live that will leave you tantalizingly spellbound and forever changed. I felt like my breath had been stolen from my chest as I read the last words. I was completely captivated while reading this stunning phenomenon. At times words fall short of the emotion that is evoked from reading an amazing story, and this is one of those times.

Lexi Hamilton is caught up in a world that none of us could ever imagine or want to experience. The days when she was loved unconditionally and cherished beyond measure are long gone, and in its place is fear, neglect, and abuse of the worst kind. Just when she has given up her will to live, a sudden and horrific shift in her existence flips that desire upside down. Above all, she is now fighting with everything in her to live at all costs. The last thing that Lexi expects to find in her hell of an existence is a hardened prison guard who has a heart of gold and whose loyalty runs deep. What started out as a simple job has turned into something much more that leaves him second guessing himself at every turn. Can hope and love be found in a place that is quite literally Hell on Earth?

I was so overwhelmed by the astonishing depth and limitless passion found on each page of this book. My heart ached at times while trying to fully comprehend the driving hunger for hope and love that is brilliantly captured by Abi Ketner and Melissa Kalicicki. The sheer intensity of the characters’ will to survive and to love at any cost sent me reeling. This is one journey of unmistakable worth and unfaltering hope that I will not soon forget.

I absolutely loved Lexi and Cole. They were my heroes, and I wanted to see them succeed in overcoming their struggles. Neither of them ever thought they would find meaning and love in their miserable existence, but all they had to do was open their eyes as it stared them in the face. When we have the courage to give that which we want the most, we are usually surprised to see it being offered right back to us. Once they started fighting their fear, they found that they could overcome anything short of death.

Abi and Melissa have completely won me over. I will be singing their praises from here on! Their down-to-earth approach will undoubtedly draw a wide range of readers into the ranks of their adoring fans. I am so looking forward to the next book in this series, and I honestly cannot wait to see what they have in store for us.

Abi and Missy 2

Abi and Missy met in the summer of 1999 at college orientation and have been best friends ever since. After college, they added jobs, husbands and kids to their lives, but they still found time for their friendship. Instead of hanging out on weekends, they went to dinner once a month and reviewed books. What started out as an enjoyable hobby has now become an incredible adventure.
