What was the inspiration for your story?
I’ve always loved movies and books on time traveling people in love like Time Traveler’s Wife. This particular story started as a simple visual of a woman sitting on a bench waiting for the only man she ever loved to appear. Then, I started answering questions. Who is this woman? Who is the man she’s waiting for? Why can’t they be together?
What kept you going throughout the writing process?
This story didn’t actually take that long to write so it was easy to keep going. I was excited about it from beginning to end, and I hope people enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Who is your most meaningful character and why?
David. Because he takes the reader through the story, starting out confused and then learning the truth as the reader learns the truth. I guess Sophie is more protagonist than he is since she is more in control of what’s happening, but David is my favorite.
Can we expect to hear more from these characters in the near future?
Nope. Sorry. This was a one time deal. I feel like their story has been told and it’s over.
How has this story touched your life?
It reminds me not to take people I love for granted. We should cherish each day, each moment with those people because they are precious and too short.
What motivated you to start writing?
When I was twelve, the English teacher assigned us to read The Outsiders. That’s when I fell in love with YA and decided to become a writer someday. It is the best job in the world.
